I know, I know…you’re probably thinking…oh-hum, another pumpkin recipe? If you’re like me, you have seen so many pumpkin recipes in the last 3-4 months, you couldn’t possible want another….but you do! This pumpkin bread is not like “the others.”  If you want an elegant and festive pumpkin bread to serve at a holiday party, this is the one because it has cranberries mixed with the pumpkin, topped with marshmallow & cream cheese frosting.  Sounds wonderful, hmm?

Here’s another reason why you want this recipe: It’s Marie Osmond’s recipe.  Yes, that’s right.  Have I got your attention yet? Many years ago, I used to watch Marie Osmond Doll shows on QVC. That was back in my porcelain doll collecting days (big collector…I have 2, lol!) If you’ve never seen her dolls before and you like porcelain dolls, it’s definitely worth a look.  They are beautiful.  During one holiday show, Marie mentioned her pumpkin cranberry bread.  I’m not sure if they posted it to the QVC website, or if I had to write in to get the recipe. I just knew that this was “exclusive.”

I like this bread because the tartness of the cranberries offsets the sweetness of the pumpkin bread, and gives it a nice balance, and the frosting is not overly sweet.

Fresh cranberries and freshly squeezed orange juice

Marie Osmond’s Pumpkin Cranberry Bread

Makes 5 mini loaves or 3 regular loaves

3 cups flour

1 T & 2 t. pumpkin spice

2 t. baking soda

1-1/2 t. salt

3 cups sugar

1 can (15 oz) pumpkin

4 large eggs

1 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup orange juice (or water)

1 cup sweetened dried, fresh, or frozen cranberries

Combine flour, spice, baking soda, and salt in a large bow.  Combine sugar, pumpkin, eggs, oil and juice in a small mixer bowl; beat until just blended. Add pumpkin mixture to flour mixture; stir just until moistened.  Fold in cranberries.

Spoon batter into greased pans.  Bake in preheated 350-degree oven for 50-55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.  Cool for 10 minute in pan, remove to wire racks to cool. (May leave in pans for gift-giving).

Cream Cheese Frosting:  Mix together:

1 softened 8 oz. cream cheese

1 cup marshmallow creme
